Michael Scott
Michael Scott is a senior at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and will graduate in December 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. Mr. Scott was a four-year recipient of the SFA Young Artist Scholarship and, as a junior, received the Jack McKinney Memorial Scholarship. While at SFA, Mr. Scott studied clarinet under Dr. Christopher Ayer.
He served as principal clarinet of the Wind Ensemble directed by Mr. Fred Allen, Orchestra of the Pines directed by Dr. Gene Moon, and section leader of the Lumberjack Marching Band directed by Dr. David Campo. Mr. Scott was also a finalist in the Concerto/Aria Competition, and a member of the Basketball Pep Band and Jazz Band.
Mr. Scott has worked with high school and middle school bands in Hallsville, Brownsboro, and Hudson as a clarinet sectional instructor and private lesson teacher.
Mr. Scott is a member of the 2006 graduating class from North Mesquite High School. While at North, he was a four-year member of the Wind Ensemble, served as Drum Major for the Big Blue Band, and was a two-year member of the elite Texas All-State Band.
Mr. Scott is a member of the International Clarinet Association, the Association of Texas Professional Educators, and the Texas Music Educators Association.
In his spare time, Mr. Scott enjoys golfing, traveling, and listening to music.
