Heather Becker comes to North Mesquite as a May 2007 graduate of Baylor University in Waco, TX with a Bachelors in Music Education. At Baylor Mrs. Becker was involved in many activities, most seriously with the Golden Wave Marching Band. She served as the Drum Major her Junior year and was promoted to Student Staff Assistant her Senior year where she wrote drill and taught marching fundamentals. She also served as the treasurer of the Phi Xi chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon and the Baylor University Music Educators Association. Mrs. Becker performed with almost every instrumental ensemble at Baylor, including the Wind Ensemble under Dr. Eric Wilson and the Symphony Orchestra under Mr. Stephen Heyde. Mrs. Becker studied clarinet with Dr. Richard Shanley. From 2006-2007, Mrs. Becker served as the Vice President of the College Student Section of the Texas Music Educators Association.
Mrs. Becker graduated from Naaman Forest High School in Garland, TX. At Naaman she was very involved in school activities. She served as Drum Major for three years and played on the Varsity softball team.
In her spare time, Mrs. Becker enjoys reading, watching movies, and traveling. She is married to her husband David Becker, a band director at Mesquite High School.
Professional affiliations include: Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Music Educators National Conference, and Mu Phi Epsilon.
