Beginning June 2008 Mr. Mathew began working with the North Mesquite High School band in Mesquite, Texas, where he oversees all percussion activities as the Percussion Specialist. Prior to working with North Mesquite, he taught with Crandall High School and Trinity High School in Euless, Texas. During his second year at Trinity the Percussion Ensemble performed in an International Showcase Concert at the 2006 Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Austin, Texas. He has previously taught with DeSoto High Schoool, Fossil Ridge High School, and Berkner High School. While at Fossil Ridge, the drumline earned many awards from the Crowley Drumline Competition (2nd place, Best Snares, Best Pit; 1st place, Best Snares, Best Quads) and the Lone Star Classic Drumline Competition (2nd place standstill, Best Front Ensemble; 5th place marching, Best Snares). Prior to Fossil Ridge, he completed practice teaching and taught privately in the Richardson ISD for two years at Apollo Junior High (3-time BBB Honor Band) and Berkner High School, when the band received 3rd place in State Honor Band and 3rd place at the State Marching Contest. He has had students play in the Texas All-State Bands and earn Outstanding Soloist honors at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition. Mr. Mathew was a two-year staff member of Surround Sound Percussion, a WGI Independent World drumline based in Fort Worth. He has been seen on rare occasions playing in the Dallas Mavericks drumline.

Mr. Mathew is currently a candidate for the Masters Degree in Music Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. He also received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce where he studied with Brian West, Nathan Buonviri, and Brian Zator. While in college, he was section leader of the drumline for three years, participated in all percussion events on campus, and presented three percussion recitals. Mr. Mathew was also a member of the 1996 Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps and the 2000 Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps (both playing quads) where he was instructed by Paul Rennick. His professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society, the Texas Music Educators Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi. He is an Innovative Percussion Artist and a Pearl Education Artist. Mr. Mathew continues to be an active clinician, teacher, adjudicator, and performer throughout the state of Texas.

In his spare time he can be found at home spending time with wife Melissa, children Isaac (9), Alexis (6), Stephen (13), and the dogs Ewok and Chewie. Besides music he enjoys reading, exercising, spending time with friends and family, church activities, and building websites.
