Saturday, April 17th all of the Big Blue Band Concert Ensembles played at the UNT Murchison Festival at the Winspear Concert Hall on the campus of the University of North Texas.
All three bands received straight ONES from the judges! What a great week for the Big Blue Band at North Mesquite High School!! Congratulations to all students for your hard work this year. Keep pushing forward to finish the year strong!!

All of the students should be very proud of their accomplishments! The three numbers are each judge’s score for the group. 1 is SUPERIOR and 2 is EXCELLENT.
Concert Band went to the UIL Concert for the first time in at least seven years. It has been a LONG time since North Mesquite HS, McDonald MS, and Vanston MS were all making straight SUPERIOR ratings from every judge (like over 30 years long time)! That is a LOT of ONES and not that many twos. The students played great and represented North very well!
Our high school and middle school musicians are doing GREAT work! Congratulations and KEEP IT GOING!!!
All-Region Auditions
The Big Blue Band had several students make the Region 3 TMEA All-Region band this fall. They competed against thousands of students from Mesquite, Rockwall, Richardson, Forney, Garland, and the surrounding areas. FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW, North Mesquite had the most students selected from any of the 5A high schools in Mesquite, and the 2nd highest total in the district overall! GO BIG BLUE!!!

CONGRATS to Brianna Darnell for qualifying for the AREA audition in January where she will audition for a place in the 2010 All-State Band.
Frisco Contest
Congratulations to the Big Blue Band for placing 8th place in Prelims at the Centennial Marching Festival. After a shocking field entrance to finals, the band gave the best performance of the year! The band then moved up to 8th place after the Finals performance. Way to go BIG BLUE!!!!
