Inclement Weather Policies for the Big Blu Band:
“Hope you are enjoying the cooler temperatures today. The rain this morning reminded me to address our policies with regards to weather.

We rehearse rain or shine everyday. When the weather is unfortunate, we assess the situation and make alternate arrangements. Although we would never put our students at risk (we constantly watch the weather radar, monitor our lighting meter, and use good judgment) we do occasionally have to rehearse in conditions that are less than ideal. We occasionally rehearse in the rain, wind, etc. to prepare students for conditions that they would be expected to perform in.

It would be a great idea to bring a raincoat on days that seem inclement. In situations where the weather may cause damage to the instruments (these are different situations for different for different instruments), we will leave those instruments inside unless it is absolutely necessary to have them outside.”

Drumline camp is now in session, and it is HOT outside. All band members need to realize that we will be out in the heat often in late July/August, so make sure you go buy at least a 1/2 gallon water bottle to stay hydrated and bring it to ALL marching rehearsals. It is a good idea to go outside and get your body used to the heat a little bit. Also, put down the Xbox controller every once in a while and do some jumping jacks...we earn PE credit for marching band! Don’t act surprised when we do some moderate stretching and exercise!

From Mr. Jones:
Dear Students and Parents,

I hope you really enjoyed our scenic drive to Arlington last Wednesday night (hint of sarcasm). I was really disappointed about the rain -- the game would have been a great time!!!!

If you headed back to Mesquite prior to them officially calling the game, I wanted to make sure you are aware that your tickets are still good! If you read the top portion on the back, it gives you information regarding how to exchange them for another regular season game this year. Although we have no plans to reschedule our event, I hope that you are able to use your tickets this summer at some point.

Hope you're enjoying some much needed time off -- see you again soon!

Mr. Jones
