Basil C. Bouras
Basil Bouras is an Associate Director of the North Mesquite High School Big Blue Band and directs the Concert Band I. His duties include Color Guard coordinator, webmaster, social media and communications coordinator, as well as assisting with all other aspects of the Big Blue Band. In addition to his responsibilities at North Mesquite, Mr. Bouras also teaches beginner clarinet classes at Vanston Middle School.
Mr. Bouras holds three degrees in music from the University of North Texas including: a Masters in Clarinet Performance, a Bachelors in Clarinet Performance, and a Bachelors in Music Education. While at the University of North Texas, he performed in many ensembles including several chamber music groups, the Concert Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Clay Couturiaux, the Symphonic Band under the direction of Mr. Dennis Fisher, and the Wind Symphony under the direction of Mr. Eugene Corporon.
Mr. Bouras has had the privilege of performing at many national and international conferences including the Texas A&M-Commerce Clarinet Colloquium in Commerce, Texas, the Oklahoma University Clarinet Symposium in Norman, Oklahoma, the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio, Texas, the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois, and the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. Bouras has also had the distinct privilege of performing with professional wind bands across the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex including the Lone Star Wind Orchestra and the Dallas Winds.
Mr. Bouras currently resides in Garland, Texas with his daughter Evelyn and his wife Ashley, who is also a clarinetist and teaches elementary music classes at Jess Harben Elementary in Richardson ISD.
