Jim Cude is beginning his 32nd year of teaching and is beginning his first year as Director of Band at North Mesquite High School. His teaching responsibilities include the Big Blue Band Marching Band, as well as, the Wind Ensemble, and he is responsible for the instrumental music program at North Mesquite. Bands under his direction have consistently received the UIL Sweepstakes award and the Whitesboro Band qualified for the UIL State Marching Contest in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2013 and 2015. The Whitesboro Band was a finalist in 2006, 2013, 2015, and 2017. In 2013 was named Class AA State Marching Champion and 2015 Class AAA State Marching Champion. In 2017 the Bearcat Band was named Bronze medalist.
Mr. Cude’s professional affiliations include Phi Beta Mu, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association and the Association of Texas Small School Bands. Mr. Cude has served on the TMEA State Board as the Region 2 President and ATSSB Executive Board as 3A representative.
Currently, Mr. Cude, is serving as Immediate Past-President of ATSSB and serves on the UIL Technical Advisory Committee, as well as, the TMAA Ad-Hoc Judging Sheet Committee. He also serves as an adjudicator and clinician across the state of Texas. In 2014 Mr. Cude also served as a presenter both at the TMEA Clinic, TBA Clinic in San Antonio, AMEA Clinic in Montgomery Alabama and the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. He also serves as contemporary worship leader at First Baptist Church in Whitesboro. Mr. Cude is married to Linda and they have two children, Lauren 25 and Caleb 20.
