Mr. Stalcup is excited to be entering his 1st year at North Mesquite High School and Vanston Middle School. He is a DFW native, having graduated 5th in his class from Celina High School, where he was also a 3-year All-State tubist.
Mr. Stalcup graduated with distinction from The University of Oklahoma in December 2014. During his time at OU, he was a member of the Orchestra, Wind Symphony, and Symphony Bands. He also served as the 61st Drum Major of the Sudler trophy-winning Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band. He studied tuba with Mr. Brian Dobbins, conducting with Dr. Debra Traficante, and arranging with Dr. Roland Barrett. In the summers of 2012 and 2013, Mr. Stalcup marched tuba with the 10-time World Champion Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Stalcup came to North Mesquite High School from Howe Independent School District, where he served as Assistant Band Director. The Howe High School band placed 5th in the 3A Area competition, and the Middle School Band received a UIL sweepstakes award. Mr. Stalcup’s professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Association of Texas Small School Bands, and Kappa Kappa Psi.
Mr. Stalcup is looking forward to his upcoming marriage to his wonderful fiancée, Kaitlyn, in the summer of 2017. In his spare time, he enjoys playing in a local community band, attending sporting events of all kinds, and spending time with his family who still resides in Celina.
