After graduating from the University of Wisconsin Peck School of the Arts with a Masters Degree in Orchestral Conducting, Ross Gordon was appointed as an Assistant Band Director at Sam Rayburn High School (Houston, TX) and is currently an Assistant Band Director at North Mesquite High School (Dallas, TX).
Ross is an assistant director for all five concert bands at the North Mesquite High School. North Mesquite High School bands consistently receive superior ratings at UIL Concert and Sight Reading . The North Mesquite High School Marching Band is a consistent UIL marching band Area Finalist and have been an alternate to the 6A UIL State Marching contest. Before arriving at North Mesquite HS, Ross was the assistant director of bands at Sam Rayburn High School where he received superior ratings in each of the UIL Marching Contest.
Beginning in the Summer of 2020, Ross will serve as the Brass Caption Head for the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. Prior to that in 2014, Ross joined the Legends Drum and Bugle Corps as the Brass Caption Head. Ross, with the support of management, a committed staff and talented members, has built the Legends Brass program to be one of the elite open class programs in the country. The Legends Brass program has grown every year since 2014; from 48 members to a consistent 72. The Legends Brass Section is a consistent Drum Corps International World Class semi finalist and open class medalist.
Ross gained personal drum corps experience as a marching member of the Phantom Regiment and Carolina Crown (Jim Ott and John Brazale winner). While at Crown he had the opportunity to learn from Matt Harloff and Donnie VanDoren. Ross was also a member of the Carolina Crown small brass ensemble and the world renowned, Creamsicles vocal ensemble!
